{cocoa-coconut smoothie}

I’ve been obsessed with skin care ever since my acne riddled middle school days. Enjoying foundation-optional skin is not something I take for granted and I’m always researching things to eat and slap on my face to keep my skin glowing and blemish free. Luckily for chocolate lovers everywhere, cocoa is naturally high in antioxidants and actually contributes to a great complexion…as long as it’s not heavily processed with sugar.

Another great skin saver is coconut oil. However, skin benefits of coconut oil are more relevant when it’s applied topically as a wonderful moisturizer. As far as your health goes, the medium chain fatty acids in coconut oil can actually stave off hunger while the Lauric acid combats viruses and bacteria, keeping you healthy and vivacious!

Here’s a simple and tasty smoothie recipe that combines these two powerhouses with a frozen banana to give you mid day energy and gorgeous skin!

  • 1 frozen banana (peel, cut in fourths, and freeze the night before)
  • 1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 Tbsp virgin raw coconut oil
