It’s flu season again and working at an elementary school, I get exposed to my share of cooties. The office is pretty much a petri dish of viruses waiting to be picked up by an unsuspecting victim. My co-workers seem to be dropping like flies and I don’t want to be the next victim!

That’s exactly why I came up with a nutrient packed juice that not only tastes awesome but will kick your immune system into high gear!

Juices you buy at the store may claim to be full of nutrients but in reality, they’re chock full of sugar and devoid of any real vitamins or healthy fiber. You can very simply make your own juice at home with nothing more than a blender and some fresh ingredients.

These ingredients have all been strategically chosen to create a delicious medley of flavors and nutritents that’ll have you feeling amazing in no time.

Using a whole orange gives you all the Vitamin C goodness along with the fiber that prevents your blood sugar from spiking (in case you haven’t heard yet, spikes in blood sugar lead to fat storage!).

I also use green tea to thin out the consistency and because this particular brew contains a powerful antioxidant that also boosts your immune system. Ginger, an all around super food, is a great anti-inflammatory and antibacterial…not to mention it tastes great with orange!

Last but not least, a touch of honey not only adds tremendous flavor and health benefits. This sweet nectar is great for soothing a sore throat and has anti-bacterical properties we can all benefit from this time of year!

A nutritious juice strategically designed to keep the flu away!
Ingredients
  • 1 whole orange (remove the peel but keep the rest in tact)
  • 1 Cup freshly brewed green tea (let the tea cool down before you put it in the blender)
  • 1 inch fresh ginger
  • 2 tsp honey
Instructions
  1. Pulse all the ingredients in a blender with a few ice cubes (do your blender a favor and use crushed ice) and enjoy. Add more water if desired for a thinner consistency. Drink as often as you wish to keep you healthy and strong or as soon as you feel flu symptoms coming on!
