Happy 2014! We are already a couple weeks into the glorious new year and if you’ve stuck to your resolutions so far, congrats! If you’re starting to fall off of the health wagon, don’t give up! This smoothie is a perfect way to energize yourself in minutes and get right back on track with your 2014 health and fitness goals.
I love switching up my smoothie recipes and using things I have on hand, but this green monster really takes the cake as far as flavor and hydration goes! The coconut water and bananas are jam packed with nutrients, like potassium, that will balance your electrolyte levels and give you a burst of energy.
This smoothie is a perfect pick me up- or meal replacement for any time of the day but it’s especially great after a workout. The healthy fats from the coconut oil and the nutrients from the chia seeds and kale, help replenish tired muscles and fuel a healthy body!
You’ll find that I use a lot of frozen fruits and veggies in my smoothie recipes. Frozen produce is flash frozen at the peak of freshness so much of the nutrients remain in tact. In addition, frozen produce replaces the ice you would add in a normal smoothie and it stays fresh longer than the regular stuff.

tropical detox green smoothie
Rebalance your body and get healthy in 2014 with this delicious, green super smoothie!
- Yield: 1
- 1/2 ripe banana
- 1/2 C frozen kale
- 1/2 C frozen mango
- 1 Tbsp organic virgin coconut oil
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1 C coconut water
- Place ingredients in a blender and mix until completely smooth. Add more water if you desire a thinner consistency. Enjoy this smoothie in the morning, after a workout, or anytime you need a health boost!
