These date and super seed balls are a nutrient dense treat. Mineral and vitamin rich seeds are naturally sweetened with medjool dates. Combined with coconut oil and cocoa powder, these balls are delicious enough to become your next healthy weeknight dessert. I enjoy a couple of these balls each day to meet my seed quota and curb my sweet tooth.

Kenny and I have been trying to conceive for a couple years. I’ve been open about our journey with friends and family and we have unwavering confidence that God will bless us with children in His perfect time. Even with abundant faith and the support of a loving husband, some days can be really difficult. My daily walks through central walk are replete with adorable children laughing on the playground and pregnant ladies getting their exercise.

On especially difficult days I try to remember the words of Isaiah 41:10: “do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Lifestyle Focused Approach

We are currently taking a non-medical approach and focusing on optimizing our fertility through changes in lifestyle. Below are some books that have served as wonderful resources during this journey.

Focusing on diet, stress management and sleep, I already feel so much better than before I made these changes. As someone who loves food, it was really difficult to learn that I have PCOS. Certain foods and habits were harming my body and making it more difficult to conceive. I still love to dine at restaurants with my husband and bake yummy desserts. However, reducing the number of indulgences and focusing on taking healthy steps has been extremely fun and rewarding.

I started making these date and super seed balls after reading Awakening Fertility and PCOS SOS. They feature a myriad of healthy seeds known to reduce inflammation and improve fertility.

I love to have a batch of these date and super seed balls in the refrigerator for a quick, energizing snack. I’ve even swapped out my evening [weeknight] dessert with a couple of these cocoa dusted balls and I absolutely love them! I hope you enjoy these nutritious, fertility-boosting treats as much as I do!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 medjool dates, pitted
  • 5 Tablespoons raw pumpkin seeds
  • 3 Tablespoons black sesame seeds
  • 2 Tablespoons ground flax seeds
  • 2 Tablespoons hemp seeds
  • 2 Tablespoons chia seeds 
  • 2 Tablespoons salted almond butter 
  • 2 Tablespoons raw cacao powder (plus extra for dusting)
  • 1 Tablespoon coconut oil, melted 
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • 1/8 teaspoon pink Himalayan salt 

Instructions

  1. Place all the ingredients in a food processor. 
  2. Blend until the seeds are finely chopped and everything is fully combined. The mixture should stick together when squeezed. 
  3. Use clean hands to roll the mixture into 1 1/2″ balls. 
  4. Roll the balls in the extra cocoa powder. 
  5. Store in a covered container in the refrigerator.
